Matt Tilbury is a master printer and designer who's dedicated to the traditional art of letterpress printing. It's a craft that's changed little in over 500 years, since the dawn of printing. From his Sydney studio perched above the cliffs of Bondi, Matt utilises a large collection of wood and metal fonts to create beautiful typographic art.
Each print uniquely captures the imperfections of the antique type and the power of the process that gave birth to print.
Matt’s working life commenced as an apprentice compositor in Adelaide, South Australia. From here he moved into advertising as a producer working in Sydney, New York and London at creative shops such as Saatchi and Saatchi, M&C Saatchi and WCRS. He established The Tilbury Press in 1994.
When not creating his own ideas he can be found collaborating with others, working on commissions or running his letterpress workshops.
